Offers a five-year scholarship to students susceptible to dropping out of school due to extremely difficult conditions and hardships. These students are helped financially and also mentored on a personal level to continue their education.
Udaan gives wings to the most marginalized students by means of a 5-year scholarship. It provides an opportunity to students battling severe hardships (e.g. orphan, first generation learners, medical issues) to discover their potential. Due to their exceptionally complex and challenging circumstances, these 13-18-year-olds are at a high risk of dropping out before completing the higher secondary qualification.
Udaan intervenes during this crucial adolescent period so that most career and job opportunities do not escape them in the future.
By offering a range of customised and group activities focusing on education and personality development, the program attempts to ensure a holistic growth for those selected. It focuses on improving academic performance through regular contact, systematic tracking, and building study skills and habits. It also offers opportunities to enhance their personality, by building their confidence and motivation through simple benefits like new uniforms to immersive ones like exposure to career options, life skills and talent shows.
Due to Udaan’s interventions, less than 10% of those selected have dropped out. Out of over 700 students who have crossed the first milestone of completing SSC, more than 300 are currently in junior college and another 200+ are pursuing degree courses. Over 5% have completed their vocational courses and/or started earning.
