Creates safe classrooms to improve student attendance and academic performance. This intervention upgrades the school's infrastructure and facilitates the availability of basic necessities like electricity, water, drainage etc.
Evidence suggests that high-quality infrastructure improves student learning outcomes which reduces dropout rates and improves academic performance.
Some of the infrastructure related setbacks we’ve found in schools:
We help our schools to perform structural audits. By providing donatinos to upgrade existing infrastructure, we encourage partner schools to improve their aging facilities. Unsafe school buildings, inadequate sanitation facilities, water supply issues and broken toilet doors are issues we address. We encourage partner schools to appoint a Project Management Consultancy (PMC), as most schools do not have architectural plans available with them.
Over a period of four years, Nirmaan improved on the infrastructure of 18 partner schools which affected over 21,000 beneficiaries.
This intervention has also provided furniture and electrical fixtures to 45 schools.
We replaced asbestos roofs, which are detrimental to health, with light-weight, energy efficient and durable PUF (Polyurethane foam insulation) panels.
The new leak-proof roofs have reduced temperature due to their heat insulation properties. Additionally, they are fireproof and have a low cost of maintenance.
We also provide water purifiers and help rebuild sanitation and toilet facilities.
