Why Guru? Building a strong foundation

Teachers are the driving force of the education system. We learnt early on that nurturing the fraternity of teachers can improve student learning. Our primary objective is to empower the teaching fraternity of our partner schools by engaging and mentoring them consistently.

Approaches taken How we make things better

We improve the teaching skills of teachers through the following programmes:

Primary Year Programme – It’s a four-year intensive programme which includes classroom demonstrations, mentoring, exposure visits and workshops. It strengthens the teacher’s professional development so as to improve student learning outcomes.

Workshops – They help improve teaching skills and sensitise teachers about the pivotal roles they play in a student's life.
Let's talk in English – It helps improve the teacher’s competency of spoken English in person and through telephonic trainings.
Observation & Feedback – Facilitators observe teachers from 5th to 10th standard and give feedback on classroom management, educational innovations and effective session delivery to enhance students’ learning.

Impact created See how far we have come

In a span of 10 years, over 400 teachers and more than 25 schools have benefited from the programmes.
Since 2015, over 2,000 students across 15 schools have benefitted from the programmes.
